Greenery is more than fitting in a kitchen environment. Not only do they come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colours and types, but they can also serve a great function in one of the most functional rooms in your home! Choose herbs if you wish to use them in cooking, or other types of plants that have the ability to filter the air, if health is your concern.

Plants and flowers can add height, depth, pops of colour and even a sense of dramatic luxury depending on the style and size of your kitchen. Personally, we love market-fresh bouquets and succulents—they're dynamic, fresh and let everyone know you take the interior details of your home just as seriously as you do your cooking!

1. Small pops of green

One of the easiest and most sought-after plants used in kitchens are small, green interior plants of various types.

Anything from Aloe Vera, to succulents will work due to their low-maintenance and ability to thrive in humid environments! Choose small planters so you can stick them anywhere you have blank space!

2. Traditional fresh flowers

Small, traditional bouquets can also be great additions to dinner parties and entertaining! Here's some simple ways to finish your kitchen and make it look great for your next evening of entertaining!

3. Corner blooms

Don't know what to do with that random corner in your kitchen? Add some plants! Both bouquets or various sizes of succulents will add a great look!

4. Herbs as decorative plants

Herbs are both beautiful and functional—and we love anything with that combination! Create the look seen here by planting tall wheatgrass or chives and sit them wherever they look best!

5. Hang dried herbs

Drying your herbs for the winter? Why no hang them, and any vegetables your drying for a great rustic and Mediterranean feel?

6. Full of foliage

You really have to love plants to try this look! Different shades of green with vines and random foliage can create a cosy cottage feel, especially to smaller kitchens.

7. Tall bouquets to create height

This traditional and modern kitchen is beautiful with its high-end finishes. The tall bouquet of flowers also add a sense of luxury and height.

8. Traditional bouquets, replaced weekly

Take time out of your week to go to your local vegetable or farmers market—or simply take a walk to find wild flowers and add them to your kitchen for something new every week. Before you know it, it'll be the weekly activity that's your favourite.

9. For a bright pop of colour

Don't forget to keep your kitchen organised in order to let the bright flowers make a statment! We have some suggestions on how to keep your kitchen properly organised on a daily basis!

10. Heavy greens to create balance

Feel like your kitchen is a bit top heavy? Why not add heavy ferns to add some balance. These are truly low maintenance and give a beautiful hue of dark green year-round!

If you're looking for more advice on how to plan your kitchen in six easy steps, we have the perfect ideabook for you! Also, don't ever feel that the kitchen is the only place for plants.
