So often we can admire fabulous homes in photographs, poring over every exquisite detail inside and out, but rarely do we have the opportunity to view the plans used to designed and build these architectural masterpieces.
In this Ideabook, we're going to show you 4 fantastic houses alongside their original floor plans, in order to give you greater insight into how modern homes come to life, and hopefully inspire some ideas to incorporate into your own abode!
These 4 houses showcase the contemporary architectural prowess of 4 different industry masters, whose talents demonstrate that great designs can be found across varying scales and budgets. Enjoy!
1. A modern and well-equipped family home
Our first house is a single family residence located in Barcelona, Spain, and designed by the creatives at Bravo Design.
The abode is built across two levels, with living and social spaces populating the ground floor, and private bedrooms upstairs to accommodate the needs of the family. This image presents a combination of digital mock-ups of home's front and rear facades, alongside its detailed floor plan.
An impressive result exuding simple style
Once constructed, this house certainly didn't fail to impress! Its simple, modern design exudes a geometric appeal, with the architect's original, grey facade having been replaced by the warmer tones of pale brick, in keeping with Barcelona's unique aesthetic and comfortable climate.
2. A two-storey home with a dream interior
This cool and contemporary home was realised by architect Mariangel Coghlan, with the floor plans to follow revealing the foundation of his creative process.
Lower-level floorpans
The home's floor plans showcase the extraordinary attention to detail of the architect, who has thought through every design element, from the interior to the outdoor living space and gardens. A stylish sense of flow characterises this design, immediately evoking the perfect atmosphere for comfortable, modern living.
The finished product!
From design to construction and decoration this home has been perfectly realised, with furnishings such as the baby grand piano and grey armchairs visible in the floor plan above, also included in the finished product. The effect is a relaxed and social space, perfect for entertaining friends and visitors.
3. A small yet beautifully designed apartment
This next floor plan reveals the thought and care designer Martins Lucena put into creating a functional and stylish interior, suitable for an apartment of diminutive size. Lucerna relies on colour-coding to distinguish elements within the floor plan, variously highlighting bedrooms, bathrooms, living and outdoor areas. In this way we can immediately see how much space has been allocated to each section within the home, making it easier for the designer to alter the interior proportions as necessary.
Light and open interior
Once inside we gain a glimpse of the clever open-plan design employed in the living space, which appears expansive despite its size!
Great use of limited space
The results are even better showcased in this image, with the adjoining living and dining areas creating a serene sense of flow, the perfect atmosphere for casual entertaining in a small-scale environment.
4. A modern and functional apartment
Architectural plans are crucial in communicating the vision of the designer to both the builder and client, so the utmost precision must be employed when formulating them. This floor plan, created by architecture firm, AUNO50, even details the proportions of the wood grain panels used in the home's flooring, with the designer going that extra mile for increased accuracy.
Detailed artist's impression
The next step before construction is the creation of a 3D artists impression of the home, seen here displaying the proportions of the walls and rooms relative to the occupants, the colour and style of the decor and even suggestions for furniture and decoration to be included.
