The entranceway is the very first thing guests see when they enter your home, and can set the tone for the entire decor, and yet for some reason we rarely make any attempt to decorate it! That's all about to change when you read today's article though, as we look at some really stylish and unique examples that are going to completely change the way you think about the entrance to your home.

So how do you go about designing a space that most people take for granted? Well the professionals at homify believe that with a little expertise and taste anything is possible, and this is no different. What is certain is that the entranceway should be welcoming and have a healthy dose of personality, telling guests exactly who you are, and ensuring that you feel right at home the moment you step through the door. Now let's take a look at these fabulous designs!

1. Simple but effective

Sometimes a relatively simple design can have a big impact. Here they've used a simple grey console table, and decorated it with an adorable little lamp and a dried plant for a fabulous winter theme. The sectional mirror is both artistic and functional; it's always a good idea to check your hair on the way out the door!

2. Spacious and elegant

The entrance of this home is large and spacious due to the open plan living area. It has been decorated simply with wooden bench tables that have an industrial look that is contrasted by the elegant modern vases and a beautiful mirror. One of the advantages of such a broad entrance is that it really allows those gorgeous hardwood floors to shine.

3. Fun and bright

As we said the entrance really sets the tone for the whole home, and we can tell straight away that this is a home full of fun and personality. Vibrant pastel colours, a black and white chequered floor, and patterned wallpaper all combine for a really stunning entranceway.

4. Sophisticated

That ethereal light shade is the real star of this show, giving this room elegance and style, but it's not alone. The cabinet features some really artistic decorations, and it's a good reminder that the entranceway is a great place to show off your favourite ornaments.

5. Exotic

Wicker baskets, wooden sculptures, and unique ornaments combine to create a worldly and exotic atmosphere for this home. If you're an avid traveller and love picking up mementos, then this is the style for you!

6. Scandinavian style

Perhaps it's because they're inside so much due to the cold weather, but Scandinavians really know how to decorate their homes! Painted animal heads (don't worry, they're just sculptures!) make you feel like you're entering a trendy hunters lodge, while a couple of succulents on the windowsill add some colour and life.

7. Feature colours

If you're thinking about adding a feature wall in your home, how about this fantastic idea? The entranceway is delineated from the living room with a beautiful powder blue colour, adding a new dimension to the palette and creating an interesting visual contrast.

8. A functional room divider

This is a really unique way to divide the rooms; a shelving unit broken up with panels to give you a little more privacy. The shelves are ready for all of your favourite books or decorations, while the wooden panels add some rich browns to the decor.

9. Make your entrance an art gallery!

Artwork is a great addition to any home, and hallways can function as wonderful galleries. With a clean white colour palette you can completely change the decor with a few well chosen pieces of art, and here they've used a red and gold theme that is echoed on the back wall, and looks really great with the timber floors. This is a sure way to impress your guests and give your home a little culture!

10. Postmodern design

The entranceway is also frequently where you'll find the stairs in a two storey home, so integrating them into the design is very effective, plus it provides some really unique opportunities. Here they've used a postmodern sculpture, almost like a steel spiderweb, instead of a bannister for the stairs, while lanterns light your way up, creating an ethereal atmosphere at night.

11. A rustic entranceway

This home features a truly classical stucco frame, and so to continue that unorthodox style they've used untreated wood to provide the kind of shapes only nature knows how to produce. Add to that a heavy timber door, and you've got a rustic style that will have you questioning whether you've gone back in time!

12. Chic and eclectic

Indoor plants purify the air and will freshen up your home, making them a great candidate for the entranceway. The lamp also features a plant design, giving this room a tropical theme, while the mesmerising wallpaper is a chic and trendy addition!

We hope that you never ignore your entranceway again, just look how much they can add to your home! For more awesome design tips, check out these bathroom ideas!
