It's not a secret that first impressions count for a lot, but do you think about how that relates to your home? We do! Your home entrance not only makes a lasting impression on guests, it also gives a valuable insight into how you have decorated the inside of your home, which, as any interior designer will tell you, is very revealing! Don;t get us wrong, a great front garden will go a long way towards creating a welcoming and beautiful home entrance, but to really get it right, you need to think about your front door, porch and accessories. Let's take a look at some of our favourite British home entrances, to see if we can get some inspiration!

1. Repetitive motifs.

What a striking entrance! Alongside the pretty lighting, the thing we are really loving here is the repeated motif above the door and on the step. The level of consideration and style is just phenomenal and makes us imagine that this is a seriously well thought out home!

2. Beautifully clad.

A deceptively simple entrance, this one has been elevated to new heights through slate cladding and oversized numbers. There is almost an industrial chic vibe going on here, which is a lovely juxtaposition considering that this is a residential property.

3. Period appropriate.

If you work with the age of your home as a guide, your entrance will always look right. Here, a pretty double front door, finished in sage green paint and some simple potted plants have created a homely, rustic look that suits the red brick construction and gorgeous arched porch. Simple can be better!

4. Oversized and opulent.

Just look at all the glass in this entrance! It makes such a statement and though simple, the size of the glazed area really does add a sense of ceremony to the doors! Imagine this space all lit up, at night!

5. Buck against the trend.

Look at this house. You would be forgiven for expecting to find a heavy-duty, traditional wooden door, complete with black metal hardware, guarding the entrance, but a super contemporary glass version looks phenomenal! Different, daring and so enticing, this was an inspired choice that beckons us to come closer!

6. Achieving the impossible.

It's quite a stretch, to expect a home entrance to be able to overshadow a stunning garden like this one, but the combination of black wood cladding, red brick and glass has absolutely managed it! Talk about rustic chic!

7. Material medley.

Any home entrance that focuses on displaying a range of different materials will always look beautiful and here's the proof. Smooth white render grabs your attention, but then, natural wood and rustic stone get in on the action as well. Add a little lighting and suddenly, you have an incredible scene that it's impossible to tear your eyes away from.

8. Modern meets traditional.

Based on a traditional chalet style of home, it's the entrance here that really makes an impact, thanks to the unusual touch of a vibrant red, almost commercial, front door. The glass panel and sleek handle looks great, as do the oversized house numbers and a pair of symmetrical trees really finishes the whole look!

9. Under cover!

What can be nicer than a little traditional cottage? One that has a charming porch protecting the entrance and has made great use of a few simple little border plants. We can't tell you why, but we can really picture this looking great at Christmas, with a wreath on the door.

10. Dramatic lighting.

The lighting on the façade of this home is everything! What would have been a beautiful house, with real presence, has been transformed into something so much more stately! You couldn't not be impressed as you walked up the path here, surely?

11. All eyes on this!

The design here is phenomenal because as soon as you enter the driveway, you are literally directed straight at the stunning entrance. Striking wall lighting really draws the eye and encourages you to move in closer and having such a drastic contrast between the white walls and the wooden front door was a stroke of genius!

12. Oldy-worldy.

Don;t you just get a sense of what a cozy and friendly family home this entrance must lead to? With a natural doormat, handy umbrella rack, covered porch and utterly gorgeous front door in place, you wouldn't be able to resist ringing the bell! The huge wall lanterns must be incredible at night as well!
