How do you infuse traditional design into a modern home? This was the challenge in this Studio apartment located in an upcoming area of Gurgaon. The team from Maayish Architects, a firm of architects in Gurgaon, have done a great job in decorating the apartment exactly according to the client’s brief. They have incorporated elements of traditional and modern design together to create a beautiful harmony. Let’s explore this fantastic space, which has some surprising décor elements that will intrigue you.

The living room

The studio apartment comprises one large area. However, the designers have divided the living room from the bedroom to offer some privacy to the client. The apartment is the perfect size for one or two people. Here, we see some gorgeous traditional touches in the design. The walls throughout the home have an exposed brick wallpaper, which gives it a very rustic style finish that is reminiscent of old houses. The false ceiling adds to the unique charm of the apartment. We also see a beautiful engraved wooden piece on the living room wall. The floor-standing tripod lamp with a golden finish completes the look.

The bedroom

Let’s head into the bedroom. It is located right beside the living room but is separated via a partition. The four-poster wooden bed is in a typical antique style. The mirror on the wall, with a wooden filigree design, is reminiscent of old Indian architecture. We also love the hanging lantern lights in iron, which give off a rural Indian vibe. The bed frame was custom made for this house to meet the client’s requirement of having a lot of traditional elements in the design.

Décor details

Let’s take a closer look at the details in the design and the décor. The bedroom walls are a continuation of the living room walls, and we see the red brick wallpaper here as well. The mirror on the wall showcases a beautiful and traditional Indian design. The mirror’s wooden frame is shaped like a window in an ancient palace, giving it a stylish look. Right by the bed is a comfortable sofa, offering an alternative seating option. The sofa has a typical Indian design, with colourful tiles embedded into the backrest as well as the base.

Intricacy in design

The exquisite design elements are what we love so much about this house. Here, we see the intricate detailing on the partition that separates both areas of the studio apartment. This wooden separator is absolutely gorgeous with its filigree design, which obscures the bedroom. The best part is that the partition is movable, allowing the client to fold it away whenever they need a larger area. We also see that the flooring inside the apartment is simple, adding to the elegance of the design.
