The clients, a South American couple, commissioned FORMA to totally re-design this 1500sf two bedroom/two bath flat on the Canal in Georgetown, to be used as their US pied-a-térre. The difficult floor-plan is triangular in shape, with large exposed concrete columns marching through it, and it incorporates as interior space a second balcony off the north facade. FORMA's approach was to open up as much as possible all the interior spaces (especially the kitchen), and use mirrors, translucent resin as well as reflective panels in key locations, in order to create longer vistas throughout. Wide plank wood flooring, custom cabinetry, back-painted glass panels and beautiful textured wall panels come together to create an amazing environment that is flooded with daylight during the day, but becomes intimate and sublime once the sun sets.

Client comments: ’Excellent arquitect, team and person. We admire his work. He understood our way of life and he remodel the apartament thinking in us. My husband and I love our apartment.

’The project was featured in the Fall 2012 issue of HOME & DESIGN magazine.
