The former Shanghai office of I.C.D.L. has to relocate due to the overall demolition of the Fashion Park where it locates, and the new premises are located in the high-end business community with the SKY SOHO designed by architect Zaha Hadid, a Nobel Prize winner, as a symbol, which will be another Shanghai CBD business zone in future. The business building where we locate is owned by CIFI International, which is a “benchmark class” business platform for large Hongqiao. The interior design of the new I.C.D.L office is based on the classic Art Deco building appearance and LOFT room type, creating a studio full of artistic atmosphere.
On the basis of rational layout and practicality, Mr. Ivan Cheng, the design director, is bold to use rich colors: such as red, blue, yellow, and purple, etc, and use lighting to enhance the color expression. Let colleagues experience a different design inspiration as well as a relaxed working environment with the visual impact.
Arrangement of the front desk abandons the simple way, showing a combination of color and I.C.D.L. creativity. Special mosaic-spell animal shapes, Louis Ghost Chair, European-style patterns and reflective square display wall jointly create an atmosphere combining the fashion and the culture.
Although the stairs has just a few steps, climbing from the first step to the last one, you can experience the rising development of I.C.D.L. in recent years. Classic-typeset case posters, wall of golden-framed awards, and artworks stand with purple background, present a show of social honors, and a profound interpretation for design works led by Mr. Ivan Cheng. His works are full of various colors and styles, which are going extremely well with the diversified design advocated by him. Opposite the stairs on the second floor, there is an iconic artwork of I.C.D.L.—“Art Portrait”, with blue glass background, it forms an elegant hallway.
And each work area adopts simple white background, with simple office furniture, for an appreciation of the arts, there are artistic paintings and art furnishings in all regions, so as for I.C.D.L. colleagues to feel and experience art.
Through his careful arrangement, Mr. Ivan Cheng's office has already become a private museum. A wall of books, fine artworks, and unique lamps, all have become a part of his artistic life. It is a proof of the I.C.D.L.’s design idea: Moderation is to achieve a balance, which is a mashup arts shaped by the balance between modern and classical as well as Eastern and Western elements.
